Pi zero w built onto samsung s5 vnc via ssh to use.

Samsung s5 with hyperion extra size battery with built in pi zero w.

Turn on hotspot on the s5

Connect to the hotspot.

Using internal ip address,

Vnc over ssh to the pi.

With the pi youll want xvbf and x11vnc. They help autoconfigure your pi when theres an incoming vnc request. For correct names refer to the options under bVNC at the bottom under advanced vnc options.

I use the bVNC app for vnc/ssh together, but JuiceSSH is also helpful.
Configure the services on their own (ssh - keys in proper folder locations on the rpi) (get your vnc working without ssh). Then use them together.  Make sure to set passwords for ssh and vnc on your pi.

Only alteration to phone was my power  wires wired into the spot where the battery terminals meets the phone.

On s5, from left to right, the first pin is power and the third pin is ground.

Ive also wired in a switch you can see in the photos.

Two final options: a 4-port usb hub or 1-port usb. I opted for the 1 port because there may not be enough lightning juice in the shock-keepers to power too many usb devices. So far had it (both devices) running 5 hrs and im at 45% battery (mobile data off).

Im happy to answer questions.

Leave a comment in that case.

Update: used daily 8 hrs for a week, works fine no issues.

Update : dropbox fix: im using BitTorrent Sync to sync a folder from  the pi to the android, then the phone runs Dropsync app periodically. Result : cloud-synced data on the pi with little interferance from me with a lot of control.

That means my projects and scripts are cloud-saved! Love it. Ive got btsync just doing one folder which has all my linux stuff and scripts, every 30 mins.
